Our story

It started in the early 2000s—“the aughts,” as Kevin likes to say—when Shami was roommates with Kevin and Becky. Craig met them through a mutual friend, and soon Kevin and Craig were hauling a 1982 Yamaha Vision up from Virginia. The cicadas screamed the whole way—almost as loud as “Blackie’s” Mac exhaust once it hit the Red Hook courtyard.

That first bike sparked something within the group. Craig picked up a 1999 Kawasaki ZRX (“The Culprit”), more trips followed, and the bike count grew. Shami joined with a Suzuki GS500e (“Putt-Putt”), a step up from the small two-strokes she’d ridden in Sri Lanka.

Before long, the two couples planned an epic trip. Becky and Kevin found a Triumph Sprint ST with touring luggage and they all set off— two couples, three bikes—riding 2,400 miles over eight days through New England, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia’s Cabot Trail.

That trip planted a seed that would simmer for 14 years—through moves, weddings, a child, career changes, and a pandemic.

The idea, like the dormant cicada, had come back to life and the crew opened Displaced Motoco in Oct. 2021!

More recently, Sept 2025, part of the building we were in had a massive fire and forced us to pause operations, reevaluate the business, & ultimately found a nearby Red Hook space, bringing us from four to two.
